Malice was getting bored of sorting all the missing things cluttering her office, piling up on half the room. a sighed was released from her as Vincent came in with a soft word.
"What's wrong Malice? Your normally love finding the clocks their homes, why the sour look?" He purred his words with utmost respect for his master. Malice looked at him with her dulled eyes and opened her mouth.
"The same clocks keep coming over and over again, but are broken and un-wanted. I've been finishing the final touches on rabbit's pocket-watch. i just want to mess with someone right now." she looked sad for once out of boredom. Vincent went and sat in her lap and had a sly smile on his face. "Why don't you go to the gingerbread house and play with the boy there. he won't hurt you, and you can mess with his mind all you want. i can finish returning the clocks to everyone, go have a little chaos." she picked you her head and held Vincent to her chest, nearly smothering him. she walked over to the door, not letting go of the cat, and walked into the Dark woods.
"Malice! i need to return those clocks! put me down, now!" he growled at her, but all she did was look at him and smile her demonic smile. "I can't play mind tricks without you, silly! You need a little play time too, plus the clocks can wait, we have all the time in the world." the cat folded his arms and mumbled something under his breath as the gingerbread house came into view. Malice but on the most innocent face she could make, which was easy after copying Alice. she reached her hand out to knock on the door as Vincent's wide grin came back to life. she knocked twice when a sweet, perfect smell reached her nose. it was her favorite sweet, red velvet cake with strawberries and chocolate. she could feel the drool pooling in her mouth as the smell became stronger, all the more eager for the boy to reach the door.she cleared her throat and mouth as she and Vincent heard the sound of feet heading for the door.

No one had bothered the witch in weeks, or it might have even been months, he wasn't sure, Zeque was very bad at keeping track of the passage of time. Infact it was since he got back from his little adventure that no one had been up here. He was kind of glad of that. Still on edge since his home was broken into, Zeque didn't much like the idea of people coming here. Especially people from town. Damn town people...
At the time when the door knocked, the witch was cooking. He did that a lot, not because he was hungry but because it took his mind off things, stopped his thoughts from drifting onto subjects he shouldn't think about. Like town people always being out to get him or about Gretal... No he definitely shouldn't think about Gretal. Thinking about her got him all upset, he knew that, he didn't want to get upset.
When the door knocked he jumped, then froze up. His first thought being something along the lines of; 'oh god there here to kill me!' He then had to quickly stop those thoughts before they got any worse. Turning his head towards the kitchen door he waited. The door knocked again. Okay now instead of panicking, he had to think up what to do. He had a shotgun upstairs, he would feel safer if he took that with him to the door... but what if whoever was on the other side had a gun too. 'Don't think about it!!'
Deciding that he should go open the door quickly before whoever it was got mad, he walked towards the kitchen door, then into the main room, heading towards the front door. As he walked he told himself over and over that it would be OK, if he needed to he could always use his magic to protect himself. So armed with only his paranoia he reached for the door handle, flicking his wrist to take the magic lock off.
On the other side of the door there was some girl. That signed calmed him a little, but not much. "Um... Hello?"

Malice's black heart almost started beating when she saw the man at the door. his hair falling to close to his shoulders, his eyes a perfect shade, he was like a god to her, and not many people can make the little one feel that way. her gentleness became more natural as her smile softened. her high, girlie voice sounded happy, and not a fake happy. "hello, I'm Malice, and I was wondering if you would play with me and my kitty. we haven't played with anyone in mouths, with everyone not liking me, would you play?"
Vincent looked at her with utter shock as his grin disappeared into a blank look. he looked back at the man and didn't see anything special about him, but he was a cat, not a teenage girl with nothing but him as company. a meow came from his mouth as he looked at the man, faking his liking to the man of course.
Malice wanted to learn more about the man so badly, her heart slowly pulsed as pink tinted her snow white cheeks.
" i wish to know more of him, he's perfect, just perfect!"
a small fang poked over her lip, but Vincent didn't look too happy at this turn of events.

"hello, I'm Malice, and I was wondering if you would play with me and my kitty. we haven't played with anyone in mouths, with everyone not liking me, would you play?"
At first the witch just looked at the girl. Despite the fact t hat she just told him, he was still unsure what it was that she wanted. His gaze left her for a few moments, scanning the tree's that surrounded the house for other people. No by the looks of it she was by herself. Well aside from the cat that he had only just noticed in her arms. Like most witches, Zeque was pretty fond of animals, he proffered them to people by a long shot.
"Okay" He agreed, still a little unsure. He would rather just be inside where it was safe, cooking stuff and feeling sorry for himself because Gretal hated him. "I'm Zeque" He told her, suddenly thinking it was a little odd that a girl should knock on a strangers door and ask to play.

she chuckled and let Vincent land on the ground next to her. she liked his name, Zeque was better than her name, which people hated her for, but didn't care. Vincent looked at her and then Zeque with disgust on his face. he didn't like the crazy boy one bit, only torturing him kept him this close. Malice backed up a little and felt a blush coming on, but didn't care.
"Where would you like to play? it would be best to play inside, somewhere no one would see us very well. i have cards if you play poker." her real child like smile came to her face, but faded a little as she realized something.
"...... you must think I'm insane, asking a total stranger to play with me, but i heard you didn't get a lot of respect either, so i found Vincent and i would get along with well with you." he looked with distaste in Malice's actions, but climbed to her shoulders to comfort her. he leaned close to her ear and whispered something so that Zeque couldn't hear him.
"Now don't start thinking like that, you haven't even freaked him out yet, so lets make him want to die."
Malice looked to Vincent with a look of scorn on her pale face. he knew what she was telling him without her saying a word out loud. he climbed back down, more irritated than before, but acted happy and walked over to Zeque, rubbing his body against Zeque's leg, meowing as he did. the act made Malice calm down and smile back at Zeque with interest.

The dark haired witch tilted his head to one side, looking upwards for a few seconds as if thinking about it. "I don't know how to play poker..." Truth be told he had never really cared much for cards, though that was probably because he didn't care much for people either so never had anyone to play with. He raised an eyebrow slightly at her second comment. he didn't get much respect. Understatement much? But that would mean she had heard something about him and going by what the people in town liked to say about him he was guessing it wasn't good. So why was she here wanting to play? He knew the kind of things the said about him. Maybe she was mad... or a very curious and kind of morbid little girl.
He watched the cat climb onto the girls shoulder, still to busy thinking about her intentions to notice that the cat appeared to be whispering to her. Shrugging his shoulders he turned around, pausing for a moment before heading back indoors. "Inside. You can teach me if you want." He doubted he would pick the game up very well but she could try if she really wanted to.

she looked at him, a strange glint held in her eyes. Vincent just sighed and was ready to follow suit.
"It's fairly simple, but if Vincent won't be dealer, we may have to play another card game." she sounded simple and sweet, unlike her true ways. Vincent stared daggers at his master, a hiss almost coming from his lips. "Fine, but i won't teach him. you can do that Mistress."
he only called her that when he was in a sour mood, but Malice measly glared back at him and walked inside the house. it seemed a little too tidy to Malice, but it was still nice.
"Where will we play?"
she had the black and red deck in her dainty hand, shuffling them swiftly. Vincent rolled his eyes while he looked at the house, it was an unnatural clean to it that make him stick up his nose. this was not a place he want Malice or him to be in.

"You're feline deals cards?" Yes feline. He didn't call them cats to there faces anymore, not since the Cheshire Cat had told him off for referring to Dinah as a cat. According to him they did not like to be called that. He was impressed though, Vincent was obviously smarter then a lot of domestic cats.
In the living room the witch gave a quick glance around. Everything looked okay. He couldn't see anything out of place at the moment, though at the back of his mind he was convinced that something must be. Probably a few things. He shook it from his mind and gestured towards a low coffee table close to the sofa. "There?" They would have to play in this room. The only other room on this floor was the kitchen and there was no way he was letting her in there after he had been cooking. Despite the fact that he cleaned as he went, he was sure that it must be messy in there. Upstairs was off limits too, he didn't like people going in his room. To much magic stuff. He still wasn't going int he spare room himself. He had been putting off going in there, it had been Hansel and Gretal's room when they where here. That only left the basement. No chance. The living room it had to be.
"Would you like a drink or anything? I have cake and stuff" He offered, speaking to both Malice and Vincent.

Vincent sighed and hopped onto the edge of the table. Malice stood before it, eyes wondering the rest of the room.
"This will do fine. let's start the game."
her doll-like smile appeared on her face as she handed Vincent the deck. he played with them a moment before handing five each to Malice and Zeque. he straighten out and explained the rules, mainly helping Zeque.
"Please , take your cards in hand and see if any are worth keeping. you may return up to three to be replaced. if you don't understand, i will need to see your hand."
He sounded calm and happy, but was boiling under the surface. Malice looked at her hand and placed two cards over to Vincent, who gave her two new ones.
"Would you like some help, Zeque? Vincent will gladly."
they both seemed content to wait on him if needed.

The witch set himself down on the floor across from her, watching as the cat dealt out the cards. How hard could it be, turned face down they looked a bit like small tarot cards. He picked them up, half expecting to see cups, swords, wands and pentacles. Nope just lots of little black leafs, did all black mean bad luck? Tilting his head he turned one of the cards over, a picture card that looked the same whatever way up you turned it.
-Wait was the cat talking to him? Something about his hand. For a second he looked down at his free hand but didn't see anything unusual about it. Looking back to the cards then at Malice he watched her take out two cards. Not understanding what the hell he was supposed to be doing he just did the same as her, taking the same two cards out of his hand and putting them on the table close to Vincent. 'There, just do what she does and you can't screw up' he told himself silently.

Vincent took the two cards and gave him new ones, he then turned to Malice, waiting for her to show her hand. "Now that that is done with, please show your cards and see who wins this hand. Malice, you may go first."
he bowed his head at her before she placed her cards fanned out on the table. her eyes glittered as she said what she had.
"well i have four of a kind, broken hearts to be precise." Vincent rolled his eyes, and turned to Zeque. eyes holding a flare in them.
"Your turn, sir Zeque."
Malice shot him a look of fury , he knew better than to address someone like that, let alone her.

He looked at his new cards. Red ones this time and meant just as much to him as the last ones had. One was another picture card, the other covered in diamonds. Looking up as she spoke he tilted his head. "It is like tarot's then" He said more to himself then her. She had foreseen broken hearts in her cards. Well these cards seemed much more simple then tarot cards and he could read those easily. Maybe he could pick this up after all.
Giving his hand another look over he thought about it. Well the picture card was a king, but because it had another head and body where its legs should be he did not know weather or not it was upright or reversed. "I don't understand" he told the two finally, placing the cards face up on the table. Those things where nothing but confusing. He didn't even know what the aim of this was.

Malice lightly giggled, meaning a really bad thing to Vincent, she really wanted this guy to be hers, and he couldn't do anything about it.
"Well, if you would please place the cards on the table and call out if it's a king or the number of what is on it, i could see if you have the better set."
Vincent just stared as Malice acted like a normal teen, and that meant he was going to have to deal with this boy longer than he wanted. he looked down and said something. "He should have at least a king of diamonds, and a ten of diamonds as well."
Malice gave a look of sadness to her cat, showing he shouldn't' have done that.
"You set the deck again? i told you not to do that when we have to teach someone how to play, it isn't right."
she shook her head for a moment and looked back to Zeque.

With a sigh, the dark haired witch handed the cats back to Vincent. Did setting the deck mean the cat fixed the game? Wasn't like it mattered, malice would win every time anyway. She knew what was going on and he didn't. "Yeah, king and ten of diamonds, an ace of leafs, a nine of clovers and a J of clovers." He couldn't even remember what the two he had put back had been. Only that they where both black and neither of them picture cards.
His honey brown gaze flicked from the cat to Malice. "You do know you'll probably be explaining this for hours... and even then I still might not get it."Oh well, if she gave up trying to teach him he would probably let her finish icing that red velvet cake he had been working on before she showed up. For some reason kids (and yes he referred to teens as kids too) seemed to like that part. Probably because of how messy it can be.

Malice was still disappointed at what Vincent did, she shoved at her deck.
"Well, if he sets the deck, i have a problem with playing, so i guess we'll have to do something else."
the glitter was gone in her eyes, the doll-like smile as well. Vincent felt a little guilty that he did that, but he just wanted out of the house. he hopped over to her and climbed to her shoulders.
"I'm sorry Malice, i just thought it would help you win, that's all."
she nodded in response, they had always played like that when she was a kid, but now she like winning what she wanted on her own, even if Vincent didn't like the prize.
