Gretal walked angerily by the river, completly pissed off. Her stupid brother had wanted her to go all the way into to town to go to the store and pick up a few things. She had tried to tell him that by the time she got there that everything would be closed but after fighting with him she agreed to, why? She really didn't know. And of course when she got there everything was closed. She didn't know why she listened to him ever he was always wrong. He knew how much she hated going into town and thw worst part was that he hadn't even walked with her. Things were taking a little longer on the walk back since she was taking a long way. It would have been easier to just walk through the woods but fuck that, there was no way in hell she was going to walk into the woods alone.
She hugged her coat to herself when a frigid breeze blew through, she was really happy she had decided to wear jeans and bring her coat. She was wearing plain jeans and her preppy black pea coat with one of Hansel's black hoodies underneath since she didn't own one. When she made it home she was going to kill him with her bare hands for making her got out. Flipping her hood up she kept storming along.

Gretal wasn't the only one in a bit of a harsh mood. Zeque's day wasn't going all that well so far either. No doubt it would get much better when he ran into Gretal, though her's most probably wouldn't. But anyway. The day had started out OK. As always on a Monday morning he had been down into town for no reason at all aside from the fact that it was a part of his routine. That was reason enough for him to do anything though, if he broke his routine even just a little people might notice. They would think there was something wrong. People would take any excuse at all to start talking and gossiping, or come up tot he gingerbread house to ask him stuff and watch. Well they wouldn't really, no one was interested these days what the gingerbread witch was up to. In his little world however he was convinced otherwise.
It was on the way back from his little trek into town that the day had started to screw up. He had run into that damn huntress. No Zeque and Red had never really gotten along so well. He thought it was partly because they both lived in the woods and she was very Territorial and partly because she was a dirty birdie. A few weeks back she had caught him following someone around. Today she had made a nasty little comment about it. Well that had put him in a mood enough but even better then that, when he got back home the witch found that a load of ants had decided to attack his garden fence. Just because they were made of candy canes, it didn't mean he wanted bugs all over them. It had taken a good few hours to get rid of them all completely. Stupid ants.
So now he was off wondering around the woods, still in a bad mood. Rather then move through the tree's like he usually did, the Witch was walking on the ground. Aside from mumbling to himself quietly every now and then, he made no sound at all as he walked. Eventually his wondering brought him to the rivers edge where he paused for a moment before sitting down. For a few moments he watched his own reflection, then movement caught his attention. He didn't watch the girl walking on the other side of the river, he watched her reflection on the water. Unfortunately (or not) with her hood up like that he had no idea at all who it was, but still he payed her reflection a fair bit of interest all the same as she walked along....

Continueing her walk she stopped to look up at the sky is was getting dark, which may have been a good or bad thing. Hopefully most people would be at home and not be out to bother her. When she looked back down at the ground she saw that there was somebody standing across the river. She looked up and felt her blood run cold. Her day just kept getting better and better.
Keeping her hood up she turned her head and kept walking except picking up her pace a bit, she didn't want to seem like she was trying to get away as fast as possible.

So far she hadn't been facing his way, not properly anyway. But as her gaze moved from the sky back down, about the point where she noticed him, the blonde witch got a clear view of her in the reflection. It didn't register right away. If she had just kept on walking the way she was he probably wouldn't have realized at all. He was watching the movement more then actually watching her. But she changed direction, to far now from the river to have a reflection and bringing him out of his own little world.
"Hi Kitten!!!" He blurted out without really thinking about it. Aw he really messed that up! He could have easily just followed her and she never would have known, he was good at it. But no. Oh well. Strangely enough though Zeque made no move at all to chase after her, he stayed quite still, grinning away as if she were going to turn around and come over to chat.

She winced a little when he called out at her, she stopped and turned her head a little and saw that her fears had been right. He was standing right across the river and speaking to her.
Gretal was a little relieved that there was the river between them but now she was thinking of another problem she was facing. If she ran for it and ran to her house then there was a good chance he could follow her since he was a crazy stalker and all and if that happened then both her and Hansel would be screwed. They got lucky before and she didn't know if that would happen again.
She instead turned around and made a run back the way she came from into the town. She hated talking to people and it even scared her a little but she was way more afraid of Zeque than any towns people.

Aw she stopped. Now in Zeque's head, he shouted her and she stopped and looked, that must mean she wanted to hang out. Yay. The fact that right after that she bolted back int he direction of town didn't make any difference to that at all. But she was heading for town. That was not a good thing. Zeque hated it there, to many people. People he was totally convinced were all out to get him. The only reason he went there at all was to stop them from thinking there was anything going on that was out of the ordinary. The last thing he ever wanted was for any of them to come near his house to pry and ask questions. So he would have to either catch up to her really fast or just let her run and hope to hell he could find her again when she left the town and headed back for home. But what if he couldn't find her? Aw he didn't want that. So with that in mind, Zeque bolted after her. Only he forgot for a moment that between himself and Gretal, there was a river. So one second he was just starting to run, the next he hit the water. Its a good thing that the whole cliche of water killing witches isn't true, but still he wasn't all to happy to suddenly be under water. Now all his hair and clothes were wet, and more importantly Gretal would probably be half way to town by the time he got out. Just perfect.

From behind her she heard what sounded like he had jumped into the river. God doesn't he give up she thought to herself. Not bothering to turn to look, she ran for the path. She really hated going into the woods but she was afraid of was him and he seemed a little occupied.
A stich was starting to form in her side, causing her to slow down to a walk.
Finally she stopped, town wasn't that far away and she hadn't heard him behind her. She turned around and didn't see anything except trees and shubbery. She exaled and bent over resting her hands on her legs. She was the worst runner in the world and the only thing that had got her that far was adreniline.

He wasn't a bad swimmer, so getting back tot he surface was easy enough, then it was just a case of swimming tot he other edge and climbing out. Strangely enough, it wasn't until he was out of the water that it hit him just how cold it was in there. He didn't have time for getting the shivvers right now though. He was still determined to find her before she got to close to town, though part of him doubted very much that he would. The quickest and easiest way for Zeque to move around the woods was up in the tree's. There was way to much growing on the ground to make running very easy at all, to much to trip on and knock into. He thought so anyway. So after taking a few moments to think a little about what to do now, the witch caught a branch and pulled himself up, then onto a higher one.
He didn't know exactly where she had gone but he knew the directions he had run in. He could only hope she had stuck to that direction. He didn't really feel as though he were warming up any as he moved from tree to tree. As soon as he had a few moments he would have to cast some spell or other to sort that out. Later though, right now he was far to busy keeping quiet and looking for Gretal.

Catching her breath she stood up straight and was going to walk the rest of the way back into town when she realized nothing really looked familier. It was possible that she had taken the wrong path but she had been so sure that she had taken the right one. If she stuck to a path she was sure it would lead somewhere but she really didn't have the time to be lost running around in the woods. Her day just kept getting better and better.
Suddenly she remembered that she had her cell phone in her pocket, pulling it out she opened it up but all she saw was a black screen. Yelling she threw it down on the ground, great now her battery was dead. "Shit" she swore loudly. Normally she hated swearing but under the circumstances she made a attceptance. If there's a god he hates me she muttered to herself.

He had been starting to worry he wasn't going to find her after all when suddenly he heard her shout from not far off at all. Ick, he hated swearing so much. Only nasty little lier's can swear, but seen as Gretal was obviously a little upset about something or other he just ignored it. He slowed his pace a little, making sure to be totally silent as he scanned the ground with his honey colored eyes. He actually saw her phone before he saw her, though he didn't know that was was it was. Just a small thing bounce and clatter a few times on the ground. Wile she was having her little hissy fit, Zeque moved just a little closer. As close as the tree branch would get him go without risk of snapping it. For a few seconds he kept quite still there in the tree, then the witch allowed himself to drop down, lading on the ground with hardly any sound. "Boo" He said, smirking as if he was really happy with himself.

She looked both ways down the path and tried to decide what she was going to do next. Maybe she just didn't recognize anything because she never walked through there. She brushed her hair shakily out of her face, letting her hood come down. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath trying to get her composure back since she could feel her hands shaking.
She opened her eyes quickly and turned around when she heard a noise on the path. She heard herself scream, when he said 'Boo'. Now all her composure was gone and it was replaced with fear. "Stay the fuck away from me" she said surprised how steady her voice sounded.

Screaming, not registering. Yelling, not that either. He just stood there for the moment, listening to but not really taking in what she was saying. He was good at that, only hearing what he wanted to hear and remaining totally oblivious to everything else. All the same he didn't make any move toward the girl. He stayed quite still where he was. "I know you're upset kitten..." He said it as if he couldn't figure out why. "But you really should try to calm down" He added with a slight nod.
((Sorry this sucks, I'm rushing cos I'm goin bed now))

((It doesn't suck ;D))
She was a little surprised that he wasn't even reacting to her swearing, since if she remembered correctly he really hated it.
She shook her head, she could not believe he was telling her to calm down. "I have every reason to be upset, do you even remember what you did to me, or did you just conviently forget about it" she said coldly. She really needed to get away from him quickly, this was the one situation that she had been dreading. In her mind if they ever ran into Zeque, Hansel would have been with her. If she got out of this situation she was going to first going to beat his ass for even putting her into that situation than kill him with her bare hands. "Can't you find someone else to obsess over" she said trying to keep her voice steady but it came out shaky.

The Witch watched the girl as she spoke. Again he didn't really listen, just watched. She was really pretty. He liked her hair best because it was yellow. He wanted to touch it. Maybe he would tell her later. Wait..what was she going on about? He cocked his head to one side as she asked that last question, coming back into the hear and now. Someone else to obsess over. Well don't flatter yourself, it wasn't just Gretal that Zeque had taken a liking too. He just happened to like her and her brother best, thats all. He didn't answer that though, instead he gave a boyish giggle and folded his arms. "You're so sweet Kitten" He then actually took a small step back from her to lean against a tree before asking her: "Heading home were you?"

She could not beleive it, he was totally not even listening. Now her fear was turning to frustration, but it all seemed familier him blocking out everything he didn't want to hear.
"Yes I was heading home, but I don't think that I'll be doing that any time soon" she said. As soon as the moment came she was going to take a run for the town and hope that she was going in the right direction. She wasn't going to head home till she was a hundred percent sure he wasn't going to follow her. There was no point putting Hansel in danger along with her.
